Ausangate trek two days Andes Expedition organized for me a two-day trek from Pitumarca to the Rainbow Mountain of Winunca, passing through stunning landscapes at the base of Ausangate. I chose this tour for two reasons: to reach Rainbow Mountain while avoiding the classic, tourist-heavy routes, and to admire the Andean scenery around Ausangate. I partially achieved both goals. I really appreciated their quick responses and the detailed information they provided during the planning stage. This was the main reason I chose them over other operators offering the same route, along with their competitive price. We had originally booked a shared tour with other participants, but in the end it was just me and my girlfriend. Andes still confirmed the tour, which I found a great gesture, as many companies might have canceled. As with other treks of this kind, a full support team was provided (guide, cook, porter) to assist us during the hike. We especially enjoyed the meals prepared by Porfirio, an excellent cook, and the culture, humor, and useful tips shared by our guide Hippo. I give this experience 4 stars mainly because I felt that the weather forecast was not taken seriously. The day before departure, our guide assured us that the weather would be mostly clear to partly cloudy—perfect for the trek. Unfortunately, we ended up caught in rain and then a snowstorm. This significantly affected the experience, especially on the first day: between snow, fog, and rain, we missed several viewpoints, including the iconic sight of Ausangate. The night was extremely cold, and the sleeping bags provided by the operator (available at extra cost) were, in my opinion, not warm enough. When we finally reached Rainbow Mountain, it was partially covered in snow. About 30 minutes after we began our descent, the sky cleared, the snow melted, and the colors of the mountain emerged in full beauty—just as the groups arriving later on the classic route were able to enjoy. Honestly, that was very frustrating. Once again, I felt the weather hadn’t been properly checked, and even though our guide was experienced, he seemed unable to interpret how conditions would evolve. I understand that mountain weather is unpredictable, but the forecasts we checked afterwards had suggested the skies would clear at a specific time. I recommend this tour if you’re passionate about trekking, comfortable with high altitude, and lucky enough to get good weather.

Most memorable city tour of Cuzco and inka trail Best tour ever ! Hipolito is very knowledgeable and so friendly . He took us on a most memorable city tour of Cuzco along with a super fun inka trail hike up to monkey temple and sun temple - we even stumbled on the cutest dog who we named Sabrina along the trail and she lovingly joined us all the way to the top . Hipo was very very sweet with the doggie and even offered to take her back down in our taxi which I thought was just so compassionate of him ❤️highly recommend

Fantastic, flexible, fun and fabulous. I had an amazing experience doing the Inca Jungle 4 days tour to Machu Picchu. I was travelling Peru in the rain season and was disappointed to learn that the Salkanty trek that I’d planned was cancelled due to landslides, so I booked my Machupicchu tickets + return train myself. I still left the journey to MP open ended but I was going to take the train from Ollantaytambo, however somebody from the Andes Peru Expeditions reached out to me to offer this tour at a discounted rate with flexibility around all of the tickets that I’d already booked. I was so happy to be able to takr such an awesome action packed adventure to MP for a good price with a small friendly group of people. Shout out to our guide Gustavo who was super cool, friendly, humble and helpful! Highly recommend this to anyone who fancies a fun adventure. Prepare for hot hikes!

An amazing experience I can’t say enough good things about this hike! The 2-day Short Inca Trail offered a great mix of adventure and history. The guide was fantastic and kept the group motivated while sharing fascinating stories about the Inca civilization. The highlight, of course, was seeing Machu Picchu at sunrise , it was beyond words. An amazing experience!"

Short Inca Trail + Inca Museum Cusco 2024 This feedback goes personally to the one and only Hipo! My cousin and wife + me and my partner booked the short Inca Trail months ago and got Hipo as a tour guide for those 2 intense days. And the four of us feel incredibly lucky! Hipo was perfectly prepared. The next early morning we started our trip from Cusco to the starting point of our hike. We were all beginners more or less, so we were taking a lot of breaks. Hipo was so patient, motivating and cared for our safety at the same time. He made sure we drank enough water, water, water! The trekk itself is great for beginners who have a minimum fitness level. It can get tough at some points but Hipo was always there to assist you. No worries! After hours of hiking you finally get rewarded with a stunning view of the Ruins of the Machu Picchu! It is breathtaking. After this trekk I'm 100% convinced that you would miss out all the information and super interesting history about the Inca and the Ruins! If you want a great guide, HIPO is the one to go for! You can get a terribly disappointing experience if you just book a circuit without having a really good guide. And you'd miss out so many legends, stories, a private touch of a local and great conversation at night with great food and cheering together with Hipo! I loved his connection with the nature and his culture. You could feel it through the way he explained not only the history of the Inca and the Machu Picchu but how everything is connected with each other, with mother earth. Such a competent, fun, cool, lovely guy! Hipo answered all our questions, he is super funny, has a great spirit and just loving every step of every trekk he's doing. That's why we asked him to give us a tour through the Inca Museum in Cusco, too. He took the time to explain every gallery in detail which was great because we saw how other guides passed us and we're finished long before us. You feel that Hipo really wants you to understand. Understand the connection, the history, hear great legends and he makes sure that all your questions will be answered. We are very happy and thankful for this experience in and around Cusco. Thank you Hipo, you're a great 5 Star guide! ☆☆☆☆☆

2D/1N Inca Trail w/ Hipolito - Extremely amazing guide & experience 2D/1N Inca trail - start 104KM, end at sungate and Machu Picchu with overnight at hotel in Aguas Calientes. 5* experience with Hipolito!!! Top notch. 100% recommend. Hipo and I had been in touch for a few months by whatsapp as I had many questions about what type of Machu Picchu experience was best for me and my girlfriend and he bent over backwards to accommodate all my inquiries. I ended up booking last minute and he still made it happen. He gave us a great price, debriefed us in person in Cusco the day before leaving & sorted out all our travel, food and accommodation needs from cusco to ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and back. The actual hike on day 1 was a bit grueling for me - the gringo killer inca stairs were something - BUT worth every arduous, sweaty step! The experience, views and sense of accomplishment when done are priceless. Hipo accommodated our pace & our needs as we went - stopping for water breaks, snack/lunch and even breaking when I cramped up. Hippo also gave usncomplimentary walking poles and they definitely saved my life. On day 2, my girlfriend and I were amongst the first to enter Machu Picchu (6AM ticket) and Hipo showed and taught us so much as we made our way through all of M.P. from the upper circuits downward. Hipo is extremely knowledgeable about the area, inca culture and especially M.P. If thinking of hiking Machu Picchu area, please book with Hipolito!! You will not regret it.

Altamente recomendado!

We had the Happy Hippo as our tour guide on the 7 Lakes Tour and he was dope. Really nice and very knowledgeable about the area and culture. We rode the horses, they farted a lot which was super funny. It never got old. Tour was great value for what you get, and the hotsprings afterwards are super duper.
