Tour Description

The Cusco Imperial Tour is a popular tour package that takes you through the fascinating history and stunning landscapes of the Cusco region in Peru. Cusco was once the capital of the Inca Empire and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and impressive archaeological sites.

The tour typically begins in the city of Cusco, known as the “Archaeological Capital of the Americas.” Here, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the historic city center, which is a blend of Inca and Spanish colonial architecture. You can visit the iconic Plaza de Armas, the main square of Cusco, which is surrounded by important landmarks like the Cusco Cathedral and the Church of La Compañía de Jesús.

From Cusco, the tour often takes you to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a picturesque region that was highly revered by the Incas for its fertile lands and strategic location. You’ll visit charming towns like Pisac, where you can explore its traditional market and admire the impressive Inca ruins perched on the mountainside. Other highlights of the Sacred Valley include the archaeological sites of Ollantaytambo, a well-preserved Inca fortress, and Chinchero, a village famous for its textile production and Inca terraces.

The next part of the tour usually includes a visit to the world-famous Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. You’ll take a scenic train ride from the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. From there, you’ll ascend to the ancient citadel, marveling at the incredible engineering and architectural achievements of the Inca civilization. A knowledgeable guide will accompany you, providing insights into the history, culture, and significance of Machu Picchu.

In addition to these main attractions, the Cusco Imperial Tour may also include visits to other significant Inca sites such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Tambomachay, and Moray. These sites showcase the impressive stonework and engineering prowess of the Incas.

Throughout the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the vibrant Andean culture, interact with local communities, and sample delicious Peruvian cuisine. The tour is usually accompanied by knowledgeable guides who provide historical and cultural context, making the journey educational and enriching.

Overall, the Cusco Imperial Tour is a comprehensive exploration of the ancient Inca civilization and the breathtaking landscapes of the Cusco region, offering a memorable and immersive experience for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
