Yes, it’s definitely worth it! The Sacred Valley is a must-see if you’re visiting Machu Picchu. While Machu Picchu is famous for being an ancient city, the Sacred Valley was the heart of the Inca Empire. It’s full of history, culture, and stunning landscapes.
On the tour, you’ll visit amazing places like Ollantaytambo and Pisac, explore the salt mines of Maras, and see the unique Moray terraces. Plus, the views of the valley with its snowy mountains are breathtaking.
The tour is also a great way to help you adjust to the altitude before you head to Machu Picchu.
So yes, even though Machu Picchu is the highlight of your trip, the Sacred Valley is an experience you won’t want to miss!
The Tourist Ticket gives you access to several of the most important archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. With this pass, you can explore amazing places like Chinchero, Moray, Ollantaytambo, and Pisac — without needing to buy separate tickets for each site.
The ticket is valid for one day and is a convenient and affordable way to experience the best of the valley. We can easily include the ticket in your tour package, or if you prefer, you can buy it yourself at the first site we visit. The price is around 70 soles per person (about $21 USD).
It’s a great option if you want to make the most of your time in the Sacred Valley during your stay in Cusco.
The Entrance Ticket to the Maras Salt Mines gives you access to this fascinating site, home to over 3,000 salt pools that have been used since Inca times. During your visit, you’ll see how local families still harvest salt by hand and enjoy a truly unique landscape.
The ticket is valid for one day. We’ll be happy to include it in the total cost of your tour, or if you prefer, you can pay for it directly at the entrance. The price is around 20 soles per person (approximately $6 USD).
It’s a great addition to your Sacred Valley tour and a wonderful way to experience one of the region’s oldest traditions.
The entrance to the Maras Salt Mines is not included in the Sacred Valley Tourist Ticket because the site has been managed directly by the local communities since 1999. Unlike the archaeological sites that are overseen by the government, the salt mines are community-owned, and the entrance fee supports the families who live and work there.
This community-based management helps preserve the ancient tradition of salt harvesting, which dates back to Inca times, and promotes responsible tourism. By paying the entrance fee at the site, you are directly supporting the local economy and helping the community continue their way of life.
